Freestyle sessions are for figure skating practice and instruction. They are open to all ages and levels of figure skaters, and do not require club membership.

It is recommend skaters be above Learn to Skate Basic 2 to attend. Public Sessions are for all guests, especially new skaters, beginning to experience and learn the joy of skating.

Coaches must have prior approval.

Figure skaters work on moves-in-the-field, ice dancing, jumps, and spins. Skaters take turns playing their program music and wear a sash while their music is playing as they are practicing their program. All skaters must yield to the one wearing the sash.

Freestyle Ice Etiquette

We ask that you help us create a productive and respectful environment by following rules and guidelines below.

• Maximum of 35 skaters on the ice during a freestyle session.

• No breakable containers are allowed rink side. Drinks are allowed on or below the railing.

• All skaters are required to check in with the Rink Office when they arrive. Skaters who aren’t signed in will be asked to leave the ice.

• Private and semi-private lessons are not included in the ice fee.

• It is recommended that skaters bring with them to the boards: water bottles, extra gloves, music, etc.

• Parents are welcome to watch.

• It is important for everyone’s safety that all skaters stay aware of other skaters on the ice. Try to anticipate their patterns as you decide your own pattern.

• Do not hang around the center ice or the jumping corners. There are high level skaters on freestyle sessions that are moving fast and performing double jumps along with complicated footwork and dance patterns. It is important to look out for all other skaters.

• Skaters must leave the ice promptly at the end of the session.

• Be courteous to your fellow skaters, coaches and rink staff.
